Dental lasers are a medical technology that emits a beam of concentrated light.
When used for surgical and periodontal procedures, the laser acts as a cutting instrument. The procedures performed with dental lasers are minimally invasive and preferable to conventional surgery. At Dickson Pediatric Dentistry, we can use laser dentistry to offer less invasive lip or tongue tie releases, also known as frenectomies, that are less painful and heal faster. LEARN MORE
Waterlase® by Biolase
Manufactured by Biolase, Waterlase® is a high-tech laser surgery tool that uses a patented combination YSGG laser and water spray to perform a wide range of dental procedures reducing the use of a traditional drill. All lasers work by delivering energy in the form of light.
Using Waterlase® Laser Dentistry, we can perform many dental procedures with less noise, little to no pain, and fewer appointments. When used for pediatric dental procedures, the laser acts as a cutting instrument or a vaporizer of tissue to cut through tissues with greater accuracy and precision. Whereas drills can create loud noises, vibration and friction, a laser typically does not touch the surface, which lowers the need for local anesthesia, lowers the risk of infection, and reduces post-operative swelling.
