At Dickson Pediatric Dentistry, we can perform oral frenectomies in our office, providing children with a familiar environment and convenience for parents.
Labial Frenectomies (Lip Release)
Our doctors perform labial frenectomies, also known as lip releases, to detach the lip from the gums to help with speech impediments, aid with orthodontic treatment, or help with the proper fitting for an oral appliance.
Lingual Frenectomies (Tongue Tie Release)
A lingual frenectomy is often also referred to as the release of tongue ties (ankyloglossia). This procedure is performed to detach connective tissue under the tongue and is often performed on neonatal patients to assist with nursing. It can also be used to assist toddlers or older children to help improve speech issues that may be impacted by the limited movement of the tongue caused by the frenum.
